I loves buying groceries but now I THINK I REALLY REALLY REALLY HAVE TO CUT DOWN A BIT on that cos it seems like we’ve been buying it every week!! Kalah orang yg ade anak 5 orang!!! Padahal its just the two of us only!!

WANNA KNOW WHY???? cos cheffy and i love to cook than eating outside. We makan luar once a week jer. At first, thought of buying for the whole one month – senang sket and I bet its cheaper but just afraid not enough space for storage!! I wish I have that bulky fridge that cheffy’s mom has at home –alaa, yang mcm kat 7E tu…the big square shape when they usually put ice cubes!! Senang jer, just stuff everything inside!! *sigh

anyhoooooooooo I was browsing the net this morning and bumped into this few tips on "grocery shopping on budget" I have been doing half of it, but need to take action on another half..!!!! so here u go...

(i) Plan ahead. When it comes to grocery shopping, the amount you spend doesn't stop with the receipt total. It also costs money to get to the store and back, and perhaps even for parking. The best way to cut down on these costs is to shop close to where you live, ideally between your residence and the place where you work. That way, you can drop in on the way home without making an extra trip ~ yeap I usually bought mine on my way back home @ Giant!!

(ii) Set your meal plan. If you go shopping with an idea of the kinds of meals you are going to make during the following week you will cut costs because you aren't buying on a whim. Moreover, you will be ensuring that any fresh produce you buy won't go to waste, as you are going to use it right away. ~ yeap, chicken it’s the safest item that I usually bought cos we could cook anything with it!!

(iii) Eat something before you go! Studies have shown that people who shop on an empty stomach are more likely to buy items they don't really need. If something looks good to you when you're shopping and hungry, odds are pretty high that you'll get it. These impulse buys can add up quickly, so it's best to avoid the temptation. ~ this is soooOOOooo correct!! I’ve learnt this a while ago!! Mmg betul if u lapar and u pergi beli groceries, that’s it gal, u ended up buying the whole store!!!!

(iv) Comparison shop. Always consult the fliers that come in your local newspaper or mail out to see which stores are offering the best deals on similar products. This will help you plan out both your meal lists and your shopping destinations week to week; just make sure you aren't paying extra in gas to save those few pennies on chicken across town! ~ hmmmm….haven’t done this as yet cos I seriously don’t remember the price of the stuff that I bought, susah nak compare laaa, plus i tengok semua harga mcm same jerr!! :)

(v) Avoid junk food. Junk food appears cheap due to the labeling, but it's actually much more cost efficient to buy healthy food instead. Five bananas in the produce section, for example, will generally cost a lot less than a bag of chips. Moreover, chips and other processed snacks won't fill you up; it's much healthier and more cost efficient to buy pasta, for example. ~ ihiks, I don’t know why, I usually have one of those junkies in my basket!! I don’t grab the big one anymore cos sah-sah tak habis bila makan sorang!! Bila tak habis, u have to tie it back and entah bila laa nak makan benda tu balik…then bila nak makan balik, benda tu dah masuk angin and it will ended up in tong sampah. So this is my good tips, just grab the big packets yg dalam tu ade like 8 small packs ie twisties/cheezels etc! Bila u kempunan, just grab 1 small packet and I bet u boleh habiskan in few minutes and u wont ask for more! This seriously works for me and it usually last for a month + u don’t have to worry on that thing masuk angin whatsoever ok!!

(vi) Avoid prepared foods. Foods that are prepped up before hand command much higher prices than foods you have to do prepare yourself; convenience has a price, and you need to decide what it's worth for your family. Buying a whole chicken, for example, is cheaper than purchasing a package of boneless, skinless chicken breasts. You can make more than one meal out of a whole chicken if you plan your cuts and buy the right additional ingredients. ~ hehehe…I think that’s absolutely right…!! Cos I just bought 5pcs of chic rib yesterday in Giant that cost me RM13!! pastu I ternampak plak one whole chicken that only cost RM11!!!!! eeeeeeeeeee!!! Boleh gitu???!!!!!!!! Moral of my story, next time pleaseeeeeeee buy groceries with cheffy!! :P

(vii) Buying groceries on a tight budget actually means that you have an opportunity to incorporate a much healthier diet than if you were to spend a lot of money. Make sure nothing goes to waste, be prepared to spend a little extra time preparing your meals and making use of leftovers, and you will be sure to see an improvement in your grocery spending. ~ will try my best on this!!!!!!!!!!!!! SoOOoooo cant wait for my next groceries shopping!!

Btw, whoever got other tips on groceries, please do share with me too!!!!!!!!!

Ps: OMG, I have to share with you this one, I just cooked roti john last night and it taste not bad at all!! cheffy suka, cuma kena improvise sket..hehe...I cooked 5 pcs and cheffy habiskan 4 pcs to himself!!
